28.08.2025.

Planning a holiday in Pakoštane? This coastal village is the ideal for a mix of relaxation and active exploration. From beaches and islands to local culture and traditions, all within a week and at your own pace.

Day 1 – Arrival & first impressions

Your Dalmatian adventure begins with your arrival and easing into the slower, more relaxed rhythm of life by the sea.

Settle in, unwind from your trip, and take in the scent of pine trees and salt in the air. Stroll along the waterfront, get to know the village, and soak up your first impressions. Spend the evening relaxing by the sea and watching the sunset. To start things off right, visit one of the local konobas, known for their cozy atmosphere and authentic Dalmatian cuisine — the perfect beginning to your holiday.

Day 2 – Beach day

After some rest, it’s time for sun, sea, and sand!

Explore beaches like Punta, Janice, Pilatuša, or Pine Beach - each offering something unique, from peaceful coves to family-friendly shallows. Bring a book, snorkel mask, or simply enjoy a carefree day without a schedule. In the evening, take an easy walk or watch the stars from the shoreline.

Day 3 – Island adventures

Reserve your third day for one of the most memorable experiences at sea - an island excursion.

A trip to the island of Vrgada includes a stroll through an authentic fishing village, swimming on sandy beaches, and a return by boat, with a chance to spot dolphins along the way. For those seeking more, opt for a full-day tour of Kornati National Park - a true paradise for lovers of untouched nature and the sea. You’ll return in the late afternoon, feeling fulfilled and refreshed.

Day 4 – Nature & panoramas

It’s time for light activity and some inland exploration.

Rent a bike and head toward Vrana Lake Nature Park – the largest natural lake in Croatia, known for its bird reserve and scenic cycling trails. Continue up to the Kamenjak viewpoint, where you’ll be rewarded with stunning panoramic views of the Kornati islands and the coastline.

Day 5 – Day trips & local fun

Day five offers two great options, depending on your interests.

If you're traveling with children, head to Biograd na Moru and visit Fun Park Biograd - a theme park with attractions for all ages.
For a more cultural and urban experience, explore Zadar: visit the Sea Organ, Greeting to the Sun, St. Donatus Church, Kalelarga Street, and many other historic landmarks.

Day 6 – Tradition & taste

It's time to experience Pakoštane through its traditions, scents, and flavors.

Visit Materine užance, a popular summer event showcasing local specialties like traditional sweets, cured meats, and wine. Enjoy live music, dancing, handmade crafts, and the opportunity to taste authentic Dalmatian dishes. During the summer months, Pakoštane also hosts various food festivals, concerts, and sports events — check the local event calendar and add something special to your holiday plan.

Day 7 – Farewell day

Let your last day be relaxed yet fulfilling – perfect for reflecting on your experiences.

Visit the local market to find homemade products and souvenirs like olive oil, rakija, and other local goods. Enjoy one more swim or a coffee by the sea. Saying goodbye to Pakoštane is never easy — but often, it’s just a “see you next time.”

Pakoštane can become more than just a destination — it can be your personal Dalmatian retreat. With the perfect balance of rest, discovery, and local charm, the experience leaves a lasting impression. Surrounded by five national parks and two nature parks, it's also the ideal base for exploring Croatia’s natural wonders.
